I had heard about the Prana Samui and had seen the sketches in some of the brochures... but must say that it is unbelievably de-stressing to be there at the resort. We loved the swimming pool which is just overlooking the beach and of course the evenings at the pool with the favourite drink in hand and the special omelette from the chef. Our son Aaron wanted to spend the entire day at the pool!

The hotel in Austria was beautifully kept, the rooms were spotless and a housekeeper came by every day. I was impressed and grateful when I was able to have food brought to the room, specially made for my husband and I after I hurt my knee skiing and had difficulty walking. Amala Restaurant Makes Healthy Food Taste Good

Vegetarian cuisine? When you mention vegetarian cuisine, non-vegetarians normally have a preconceived notion that vegetarian food is healthy… but plain, tasteless, and not substantial enough. Often, they cry, “I need my protein!” But when it comes to well prepared, well thought-out vegetarian cuisine, nothing could be further from the truth.

 

At Prana Samui’s vegetarian restaurant, Amala, dining is l’art de vivre (the art of living). The secret recipe of Amala is award-winning French Executive Chef, Patrick Würsching. Hailing from France, Chef Patrick is a veteran of the culinary industry for more than 40 years. Patrick has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants in France and has won several awards in culinary competitions. He comes to Thailand with a strong reputation of creating works of art that are displayed on dinner plates.

 

With his long history of being creative in the kitchen, Chef Patrick has created a repertoire of simply divine vegetable dishes with a twist of Thai flavours. His cuisine is not just a delight to the palate but also a pleasure to the senses. Creative presentation is employed through the use of exotic fruits and ingredients that are found in Thailand, as well as through the use of edible flowers to add that special flavour and vibrant touch to the meal. Patrick only uses the freshest ingredients in his cooking, making the very early morning trip to the morning market to purchase the freshest ingredients and produce, home grown vegetables and spices, or herbs that can only be found in Asia or are specific to Thailand.

 

In Koh Samui, coconuts and mushrooms of various varieties are grown in abundance. To promote healthy living, Amala also uses coconut oil in much of its cooking. Coconut has many health benefits, including promoting weight loss, helping protect against heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis and many other degenerative diseases, as well as preventing premature aging of the skin, strengthening the immune system, and improving digestion. Mushrooms are also used in many of Amala’s signature dishes; mushrooms have their own unique taste and flavour, and have high nutritional value of vitamins B12, B3, B2, minerals and folate.

 

Some of the signature dishes of Amala are the red curry coconut; mushroom spring rolls, with goat cheese, feta cheese and mozzarella cheese; bruschetta with sautéed vegetables, using aubergine instead of bread; and asparagus with chilled soufflé. Desserts are also a high note, with irresistible meal finishes such as strawberry tiramisu, mango with sticky rice and many more.

What is a Vegetarian?
Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish and poultry, while vegans are vegetarians who abstain from eating or using all animal products, including milk, cheese, other dairy items, eggs, wool, silk and leather. Among the many reasons for being a vegetarian are health, ecological and religious concerns, dislike of meat, compassion for animals, belief in non-violence, and economics. The American Dietetic Association has affirmed that a vegetarian diet can meet all known nutrient needs. As with any other diet of food, the key to being healthy as a vegetarian is to eat a wide variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, plenty of leafy greens, whole grain products, nuts, seeds and legumes. Limit your intake of sweets and fatty foods.

  • Select your preferred resort and date from the list of available options.
  • Pay your usage* and Xchange fee* to confirm your booking, if you have not already done so.
